Pennsylvania License Plate Images — about this site

This website shows current issue and current use PA plates. My goal is to provide a text and graphic listing of every plate type currently in use. The focus of this project is on the newer plates that have been issued (reissued) as a result of PA re-plating, and also those plates currently in use that were not subject to reissue.  Basically the time period for this website is from about 2000 (actually September 1999) to the present.  See License Plate Replacement Fact Sheet for additional information on the replacement process.

Where possible, actual plate images are displayed, where no image has been obtained, a sample plate will be displayed, where neither is available the frame will be blank, or a graphic depiction of the plate will be shown.  Where more than one plate of a particular type is shown, it is generally due to variations in formatting of the plate type.  It is my intent to show all formatting variations for each type.  Additions and corrections are always welcome.  Where text is shown in MAROON, it generally indicates new, revised or updated information.

This website came about on November 12, 2002.

On November 1, 2006 I added a new page with Special Event plates.  This is also a departure from my 'current issue' theme.  Initially the images are from my own collection, as time goes on I will also post images that I have acquired from other sources.  Hopefully anyone who has other special event types will send images to post.  As always I will credit your images.  

Since 2006, I have also expanded the scope of the website adding pages of Governors' plates, front plates, validation stickers, and more recently a number of plate history pages have been launched.  The plate history pages, as well as some of the other pages, are a departure from my original mission which was limited to current plates.  Over the years well over 100 contributors have helped to provide the many images and information contained herein.
